New Study Links GMO Food To Leukemia

I reblogged this post because it is just another study showing us that GMO food is highly suspect of being quite dangerous. Why take a chance??? Dont eat GMO.
Has anyone seen even one study that shows GMO is good for you?
Uh……nope.

A new study, yet to receive any media attention, reveals the “leukemogenic” properties of the Bt toxin biopesticides engineered into the vast majority of GMO food crops already within the US food supply.

Last September, the causal link between cancer and genetically modified food was confirmed in a French study, the first independent long-term animal feeding study of its kind. The disturbing details can be found here: New Study Finds GM Corn and Roundup Causes Cancer In Rats

Now, a new study published in the Journal of Hematology & Thromboembolic Diseases indicates that the biopesticides engineered into GM crops known as Bacillus Thuringensis (Bt) or Cry-toxins, may also contribute to blood abnormalities from anemia to hematological malignancies (blood cancers) such as leukemia.[i]

A group of scientists from the Department of Genetics and Morphology, Institute of Biological Sciences, University of Brasilia, Brasilia/DF, Brazil set out to test the purported human and environmental biosafety…

  1. I am sorry to inform you but that study is not accurate in the least bit. The researchers did not feed ANY GMO food to ANY mice during the study. The dosage of Bt was around one millions times the exposure humans would receive. The researchers did not use proper control groups to ensure study quality and they used a small sample size. Beyond that the study was withdrawn from Food and Chemical Toxicology where it was originally published. It is now in the very first issue of Journal of Hematology & Thromboembolic Diseases. The OMICS publishing group that owns Journal of Hematology & Thromboembolic Diseases owns dozens of journals many with no content. In fact OMICS is not allowed to submit papers to PubMed anymore and PubMed is a very well respected source of scientific research.

    • Ok thanks a lot for the info ….. I will look it all up!
Be advised though that Monsantos study which says GMOs food is ok is also lackIng in efficacy as well.

      • The whole area of research is a quagmire, Monsanto is on one side throwing money around to influence the research. On the other side there people who vehemently oppose Monsanto promoting studies that have been debunked. It is hard to find the middle ground of solid scientific evidence in either direction.

      • Well I’m gonna say no its not. There are enough studies to at the very least show that GMOs need to be evaluated more before they are consumed by anyone. In fact your words back up this thought. You said it is hard to find the middle ground. In science there is no middle ground. You either prove with legit science or you make no claims of safety and continue doing proper research until otherwise. Middle ground is for other issues. If you were handed a drug and before you took it you were told that they found a middle ground on its safety would you take it? Sorry but that isn’t convincing science. Hence the need to stop the GMO experiment on humans.

      • I agree that there needs to be more science. But at the same time we can’t go overboard and claim a clausal link to Leukemia on improper scientific grounds. So the study itself is bunk. The area is in dire need of good solid well designed research. But this study is no such thing. It is a bad idea to base our beliefs on invalid information. It is also bad for the public to spread invalid information. Even if you want to stop human consumption of GMO supporting it with a study like this one will hurt the cause in the long run. Most people don’t bother to learn about things like this and if you use easily disproven studies then you could loose public support by appearing to be deceptive.

      • You are correct. Thank you for taking the time to contact me on this. I have been looking this info up and the story is bunk as you say. I will do a post about it soon. Thank you!
